Nine people were killed on Wednesday following an accident involving a 14-seater matatu on Tawa-Kikima road, Makueni county.

Mbooni West OCPD James Baraza told the Star that the vehicle veered off at a sharp bend on the road and plunged into a ravine.

“The matatu driver lost control of the vehicle at the black spot. Traffic police officers are on their way to the area,” Baraza said.

He said those injured in the accident were rushed to various hospitals at Kikima and Tawa

This comes after more than 40 people died in an accident involving a canter with flammable substance and some 14 cars at Naivasha.

The December 10 accident was blamed on poor signage on the section of the Naivasha-Nakuru highway at Karai trading centre.
