Embakasi East MP Babu Owino got a reprieve today after having his bail terms finally reviewed as per his application.
The high court has reviewed the controversial lawmaker’s bail terms to Sh5 million cash bail with an alternative of Sh 10 million bond with two sureties of a similar amount.
While making his ruling at Milimani Law Courts, Justice Luka Kimaru considered that there were no compelling reasons to deny Babu Owino bail or bond.
The Mp has so far deposited Sh 4.4 million as cash bail.
He will, therefore, be required to pay an additional Sh 600,000 to secure his freedom.
The matter will be mentioned on March 20, 2020.
The MP is facing attempted murder charges after shooting a DJ at the famous B Club in Nairobi’s Kilimani area.
DJ Evolve, who was shot in the neck is currently recuperating at Nairobi Hospital with the medical bill being alleged to have hit Ksh 7 million.
