A businessman was arrested on Wednesday morning with uninspected and contaminated meat in Nairobi.

According to the Star ,Joseph Muthama was ferrying the bad meat to Nairobi’s City Market before he was arrested by City County Veterinary department officers.

“Muthama had packed the rotten meat in five batches and at the time of arrest had sold one batch as minced meat,” the officers said.

 This is the second time the suspect has been arrested. Muthama was unable to produce a cash bail of Sh300,000 and will be in court today at 11am.

The Veterinary department has heightened surveillance in slaughterhouses and meat and poultry joints within the city.

The officers urged all residents to be careful when buying meat and poultry.
