June Teckar Chepkemei has been appointed the new chairperson of the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB)

The Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife Dr. Alfred Mutua in a gazette notice, stated that the appointment is in exercise of powers conferred to him by Section 37 (1) of the Tourism Act 2011.

Chepkemei’s appointment takes effect from the 20th of March 2024, and will run for three years.

Chepkemei is a former journalist at local radio station Kass FM. Until her appointment , she had been the acting managing director at the Kenya Investment Authority since 2023 upon her appointment by the then Investment and Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria.

She has also previously served as Magical Kenya CEO.

Chepkemei will now take over the reigns of the Kenya Tourism Board from Jacinta Nzioka  Mbithi who has been at the helm of the board in acting position since 2016.

The Kenya Tourism Board is a  State Corporation whose mission is to drive and support the effective Marketing of Kenya’s tourism products.
