President William Ruto has appointed  former presiding bishop of Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM) as the chairperson of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for a six year term.

The president has made the announcement in a gazette notice, stating that the term begins on April 29, 2023.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 10 (5) of the Ethics and Anticorruption Commission Act 2011, I William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, and Commander-in-chief of the Defence Forces, appoint David Adang Oginde (Dr.) to be the chairperson of the Ethics and Anticorruption commission for a period of six (6) years”, the gazette notice read.

Dr. Oginde takes over from Archbishop Eliud Wabukala, who retired earlier this year, effectively becoming the second clergyman to lead the anti graft body.

The former Bishop was one of 14 candidates shortlisted by the Public Service Commission (PSC) for the position of EACC chairperson, whose final shortlist was narrowed down to three, including the bishop, former Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana and Amani Yuda Komara.
