Following the closure of schools due to emergence of covid-19 cases in the country, the ministry for education is set to rollout supplementary school programme to offer alternative learning for children to enable the over 15 million primary and secondary students to access education from home starting Monday the 23rd of March, 2020.

The curriculum which has been prepared for the last four years will now be aired on Radio Education Broadcast, Edu channel TV, Edu-TV Youtube and the Kenya education cloud  to attain home based learning as part of the measures to by the president to contain the virus.

For radio programs, the ministry will air the radio programs in conjunction with the national broadcaster KBC, from Monday to friday through Radio Taifa and English service. Lessons will also be transmitted through the Education ministry television channel Edu TV. Meanwhile, learners can obtain digital content of all KICD approved materials from the Kenya Education Cloud

In a statement sent to newsrooms earlier, the ministry of education has called on all telecommunication firms and media houses to work in partnership with the government to offer avail learning solutions to all learners.

The ministry also called upon all the guardians and parents to ensure that all their children remain indoors in line with the presidents directive of containing the spread of corona virus.

The Education ministry has further pledged to work with all government ministries during this period of schools closure and says it will review the situation from time to time in the best interest of the learners.
