The government has set up a National emergency response committee on Corona virus to look into measures of stopping importation of COVID-19 virus into the country.

In a press statement released this afternoon and signed by government Spokesperson, Col (Rt)Cyrus Oguna, the move will ensure proper, timely and accurate awareness through the ministry of Health in collaboration with the mobile operators in Kenya including Safaricom, Telkom and Airtel.

This will enable the telecommunication providers to disseminate information on COVID-19 to all mobile phone subscribers through their networks.

The statement further states that the Communications Authority of Kenya has since approved issuing of messages through the mobile providers.

The government has further vowed to continue with public awareness campaign to ensure well being of all citizens as long as the threat of COVID-19 persists.
