National Bank of Kenya (NBK) has donated an assortment of Protective Personal Equipment (PPE) to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

The donation that included 1000 masks, 20 thermo guns, 1000 gloves and 200 of litres sanitizer, will be distributed in TSC’s secretariat and regional offices to aid the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking during the presentation, National Bank Managing Director, Paul Russo said, “This is to express our solidarity with the commission as you continue with the enormous task of managing the phased resumption of the learning in the country after interruption by the pandemic”.

On her part, TSC Commission Secretary, Dr Nancy Macharia said, “This donation will greatly boost the commission’s efforts to provide a safe environment that protects our staff across the country as we continue to plan for the full reopening of our learning institutions”.

The government is in the process of implementing phased reopening of schools in the country after they were closed in March 2020 as a measure to curb the spread of COVID-19. At the moment, only candidates of national examinations have reported to commence preparations.

Besides TSC, National Bank has also donated masks to the National Police Service. This is addition to measures taken to cushion customers from the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes restructuring customer loans, and waiver of fees charged on use of digital channels.
