The ministry of health has put to rest the use of masks in preventing the spread of COVID 19 .

Speaking during the Health ministry’s daily briefings on COVID 19 , the head of division of family health from the ministry of Health Dr Patrick Amoth discouraged the use of the masks explaining that the masks are best used by surgical doctors or anyone who has a respiratory infection.

He explained that for now, Kenyans only need to wash their hands and use sanitizers to keep the virus at bay.According to Dr. Amoth, it is a wastage of resources for individuals who are not unwell and are not health workers to put on masks.

“If you are not unwell, you are wasting a useful resource which is hard to come by at the moment. Please let us keep the masks for those of us who are unwell and the healthcare workers so that it can serve its purpose,” he said.
