Zimbabwe gospel minister, Michael Mahendere has bagged this year’s Gospel contemporary award in the Zimbabwe Music Awards 2021 (Zima) held over the weekend.

Gospel songbird Janet Manyowa also walked off with two awards among the the album of the year for her Sounds of Victory album and the Female Award of The Year title.

According to the organizers the awards is a reflection of the great work in the music industry to the south African region country.

Mahendere had been nominated in the Global Gospel Artist of the Year and Song of the Year categories.

For the Global Gospel Artist of the Year category, he will compete against Levixone (Uganda), Prospa Ochimana (Nigeria), Diana Hamilton (Ghana), Joe Praize (Nigeria), Mercy Masika (Kenya) and Empress Gifty (Ghana).

The “Salt of Earth” hit-maker last month scooped the International Best Male Gospel Artiste Award 2020 at the Africa Unite Gospel Awards which was held virtually in the United States.

The global awards are set for next month with the deadline for the votes being next Monday with the award gala slated for later in the month
