Eldoret Catholic Diocese Bishop Dominic Kimengich has asked the Government to give the first priority to helping Kenyans who have been infected and affected by the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic.

Bishop Kimengich says with the recent deaths of frontline healthcare workers and increased infections across the country, there is need for the government to get its priorities right and focus on the pandemic.

He further expressed concerns over ongoing push for constitutional change through the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), a process he says can wait until Coronavirus is contained.

The clergy also hit out at the Government for seeking to allocate billions to the BBI referendum while at the same time saying there is no cash to facilitate payment of medical expenses for Covid-19 treatment through the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).
