Eldoret Catholic Diocese Bishop Dominic Kimeng’ich has expressed concerns over the worsening humanitarian crisis in Kapedo area following an ongoing operation targeting bandits.

In a media briefing in Eldoret town, Bishop Kimeng’ich says the situation has been made worse by numerous roadblocks erected in the area by the security agents, blocking organizations from offering support to the locals.

The clergy said the government should allow organizations like Kenya Red Cross to access the area o that they can help locals who might be in need to help.

He also asked the security team undertaking the operation in the area to ensure no innocent local is killed or injured as a result of the operation that was launched following the murder of a senior General Service Unit (GSU) officer by suspected bandits.

According to the Bishop who is the Apostolic Administrator for Turkana Catholic Diocese , the government should provide security to the locals even as they undertake the operation that seeks to address perennial insecurity in the area.
