During the WIW 2020, CMA will leverage technology and conduct social media campaigns, webinars on investor protection and capital market products and collaborate with market intermediaries to deepen awareness.

The CMA Acting Chief Executive, Wyckliffe Shamiah said , ” Our strategy has been refined with the onset of Covid-19, where technology-driven initiatives have emerged as key delivery channels for financial literacy to enable investors make informed investment decisions, especially with the increased cases of unsolicited investment opportunities some of which are fraudulent’’.

Shamiah said the capital markets is expected to play a key role in the Post-Covid Economic Recovery Strategy in Kenya by facilitating access to long term capital to support Government programmes including the Big Four Agenda.

He added the initiative will boost the Authority’s Investor Awareness Strategy, which has seen CMA reach over 500,000 people both locally and globally by leveraging technology and edutainment activities as well as new and traditional media to reach all players.
