The Board of CIC Insurance Group has announced the appointment of Nelson Kuria as chairman.

The appointment follows the retirement of James Magomere who has served as Chairman for 16 years, as the Group continues on its transformation journey.
CIC Insurance Group in a statement said Kuria brings a wealth of expertise and experience in insurance industry spanning over 36 years, including his successful tenure as the Group CEO of CiC Insurance Group from July 2001 where he retired in February 2015.
Last year,  Kuria returned to the CIC Group Board as an independent director, after staying out of the firm long enough to satisfy the Capital Market’s Authority’s requirement that an independent director must not have held an executive position in the company within the last five years.
CIC Group has also made key changes to the Board of Directors intended to strengthen the overall Governance and Strategic leadership of the institution.
In the  additional appointments, the CIC board has also appointed new CEOs to take charge at the Subsidiary businesses.  The Board has also announced the retirement of Jyoti Patel and the appointment of James Njue Njiru as Vice Chairman of the Board.
The recent changes are part of the transformation process that began in June last year with the appointment of a new Group Chief Executive Officer Patrick Nyaga.
