Kenya has recorded 440 new positive cases of COVI 19 in tests conducted in the last 24 hours, raising the country’s total to 17,975 . The total cumulative tests are now 279,612.

The new positives were drawn from the 3,197 people whose samples were tested within 24 hours, out of which all except three were Kenyans.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe in a statement said in terms of gender, 286 were males and 154 were females. Age wise, the youngest is a one year old infant , while the oldest is 84 years.

The distribution of the cases by counties is as follows; Nairobi 326, Machakos 32, Kajiado 17, Kiambu 17, Uasin Gishu 13, Mombasa, 10, Muranga 5, Baringo 5, Kilifi 5, Busia 2, Wajir 2, Nyeri 1, , Embu 1, Nandi 2, Taita Taveta 1, Tharaka Nithi 1.

On a positive note, 90 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 7,833.However, five more patients succumbed to the virus, raising fatalities in the country to 285.
